Boswellia serrata is a moderate-sized branching tree that grows in the dry, hilly regions of India. The medicinal part is the gum resin that exudes from the tree’s bark. This resin contains active compounds called boswellic acids, which are powerful anti-inflammatories that work by inhibiting pro-inflammatory enzymes.
Shallaki, or Indian Frankincense, is Ayurveda’s premier anti-inflammatory herb, especially for joint health. It is renowned for its ability to manage arthritis, joint pain, and stiffness. Its cooling and bitter properties help it pacify Pitta and Kapha. Unlike many modern pain relievers, it does not irritate the stomach lining. It helps to improve flexibility and reduce swelling in the joints.
Our Shallaki resin is sustainably tapped from mature trees by trained collectors, ensuring the long-term health of the forest.
The raw resin is carefully purified to remove any impurities and then ground into a fine powder, ensuring a high concentration of beneficial boswellic acids.
