Overview

Often considered a weed in many parts of the world, the Nut Grass tuber is a powerful medicine in Ayurveda. The plant’s small, dark, fragrant tubers are rich in essential oils and active compounds that give it its carminative, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic properties. It is a key ingredient in many classical formulations for digestive and female wellness.

Nagarmotha, or Musta, is one of Ayurveda’s best herbs for digestive health, particularly for managing issues related to malabsorption. Its light, dry, and astringent qualities make it excellent for pacifying Pitta and Kapha doshas. It is a potent carminative and digestive, used to relieve intestinal gas, regulate appetite, and support a healthy metabolism. In hair care, it is used to cleanse the scalp and prevent dandruff.

For a Digestive Tonic: Mix a quarter teaspoon of Nagarmotha powder with warm water or buttermilk and consume after meals.
● For a Scalp-Cleansing Hair Mask: Add Nagarmotha powder to your regular herbal hair pack (with Henna, Amla, etc.) to help cleanse the scalp and remove excess oil.
