Its leaves, particularly the young, tender, reddish ones, are rich in beneficial compounds like mangiferin, polyphenols, and terpenoids. These compounds possess powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which are the basis for the leaves’ traditional uses in managing various health conditions.

French: Feuilles de manguier

While the Mango fruit is universally loved, its leaves are a potent medicinal herb in Ayurveda. They are traditionally used to manage healthy blood sugar levels and support cardiovascular health. They are known to pacify Pitta and Kapha doshas. A decoction of the leaves is also used as a mouth rinse to support gum health and as a general tonic for overall wellness.

For a Wellness Decoction: Boil 1 tsp of Mango leaf powder in 2 cups of water for 10-15 minutes. Strain the liquid and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning to help support healthy blood sugar levels.
For a Soothing Gargle: Use a cooled, strained decoction as a mouthwash to help soothe inflamed gums.
