Overview

Mango Ginger is a fascinating rhizome from the ginger and turmeric family, native to the hills of India. It looks similar to ginger but imparts a tangy, mango-like flavor instead of pungency. This unique characteristic makes it a prized ingredient in pickles and culinary preparations. For cosmetic use, it offers the skin-brightening benefits of turmeric without the strong yellow staining effect, making it a perfect addition to face packs and ubtans.

French: Gingembre mangue
German: Mango-Ingwer
Chinese: Mángguǒ jiāng (芒果姜)
Arabic: ر م ا و (Kurkum al-manju)
Spanish: Cúrcuma amada
Russian: Манговый имбирь (Mangovyy imbir’)
Japanese: マンゴージンジャー (Mangō jinjā)

In Ayurveda, Amba Haldi is prized for its Vranaropana (wound-healing) and anti-inflammatory properties. Unlike culinary turmeric, it is not “hot” in nature, making it exceptionally soothing for the skin. It is traditionally used to lighten scars, reduce pigmentation, and calm acne-prone skin. It pacifies the Pitta and Kapha doshas and is valued for its ability to purify the blood and improve complexion.

For a Skin-Brightening Pack: Mix 1 tbsp of Amba Haldi powder with 2 tbsp of milk or yogurt to form a paste. Apply to the face and neck, leave for 15 minutes, and gently scrub while rinsing to reveal brighter, refreshed skin.
For Targeted Blemish Care: Create a thick spot-treatment paste with a pinch of powder and a drop of SUPHERB® Neem Oil. Apply to blemishes before bed.
