Vacha, meaning “to speak,” is Ayurveda’s primary herb for the mind, speech, and nervous system. It is a powerful Medhya Rasayana (brain tonic) with a heating potency that pacifies Vata and Kapha. It is used to enhance intelligence, improve memory, and promote clarity of speech. It is also a powerful detoxifier for the brain, helping to clear mental fog and sluggishness.

  • For Mental Clarity: A very small pinch of the powder can be taken with honey. It is also traditionally used as one of the first herbs given to a newborn with honey and ghee to stimulate the intellect.
  • For External Use: A paste of the powder can be applied to the forehead to help with headaches.
