OUR CERTIFICATIONS

Overview

Trikatu is a traditional blend of three pungent herbs in equal proportions: Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), Long Pepper (Piper longum), and Ginger (Zingiber officinale). This combination creates a powerful synergy that enhances the bioavailability of other herbs and nutrients, making it a common “carrier” herb in more complex formulas. It is a foundational remedy for all conditions of sluggishness in the body.

Trikatu is a simple yet immensely powerful classical Ayurvedic formula. Its name means “three pungents.” It is the ultimate formula for stimulating digestion, increasing metabolism, and clearing Kapha congestion. Its intensely heating nature ignites the digestive fire (Agni), burns toxins (ama), and clears mucus from the respiratory and digestive tracts.

  • To Boost Digestion: Take a small amount (a quarter teaspoon) of Trikatu powder mixed with a teaspoon of honey before meals to stimulate a weak digestive fire.
  • For Cold & Congestion: The same mixture with honey can be taken 2-3 times a day to help break up mucus and clear the sinuses.
  • Note: Trikatu is very heating and should be avoided by those with high Pitta, acidity, or gastritis.
